It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Susan Creighton Wymer, 68, of Huntsville, Alabama, on September 16, 2025. She passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side at Dallas Methodist Hospital after a multi-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Born on August 26, 1957, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Colonel Frank and Aline Creighton, Susan’s life was a testament to her vibrant spirit and love for others. She spent her childhood primarily in Huntsville, Alabama, and later raised her own family in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She spent her later years in Valley Mills, Texas. Susan had a successful career in the cable industry, from which she retired in 2022.
Susan will be remembered as an exceptional mother, sister, and friend. She had an incredible gift for cooking and loved to entertain, warmly welcoming everyone into her home. She cherished her family and friends, possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a talent for storytelling, and loved all animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel Frank Milton Creighton and Aline Marie Creighton; her brother, Milton Creighton; and her husband, David Wymer.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Claire Schopfer; her son, Randolph Reeves Davis; her grandchildren, Davis and Claire Schopfer; and her three beloved sisters, Teensy Weldon, Townley Whalen, and Edith Harmon.
A service to honor Susan’s life will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (www.lbda.org) to support research for this disease.
